Miscellaneous Film & TV I

A mish-mash here, all as lead painter.  Academy Awards opening films (several years in a row), Mexican Captain Crunch commercial, The Chimp Channel, (tv series), and two feature films: The Dogwalker, and Shade. The Dogwalker was an indie film, where I was Lead Painter AND Art Director. One of the videos for Billy’s Opening Film (2004) which is mostly featured below, can be seen here.

Miscellaneous Film & TV II

Various set painting jobs from the past.  Honestly, I don’t remember what some of these jobs were.  The “colorful” sets are from Nickelodean, working on All That.  (These sets just got coverage again in the HBO documentary “Quiet on Set”).  Also featured, feature film, Orange County, and kid’s drawings I did while working on White Oleander. Oh yes, and the bunny hutch!  That was a super fun job, but for a kid’s show I do not remember.

Build for a private party in Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar.Job title: Lead PainterBut I couldn’t have done it without the help and guidance of Maria Jaramillo and Richard Ewan.  For just a private party, it was a huge, complicated job. BTS   A crazy amount of work for one party!

Duplex

Feature film with Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore Lead Painter: Chris BarnesJob title: Set Painter This was the most beautiful set I ever worked on.  My pictures don’t do it justice, and it’s a shame the movie didn’t turn out the way everyone hoped and disappeared into oblivion.

Kitchen Remodel

Tim Zeug and I remodeled our own kitchen. (We were living in my mother’s building, so she was very happy). We did 100% all the work ourselves. Below is before and afters and some BTS work in progress. The building was originally from the 1920s but had a horrible remodel job in the 70s. We wanted to restore it to its original style. We used all real materials, cutting the tiles, and Tim custom built all the cupboards. (No Home Depot off the shelf stuff!) Tim tore out unnecessary soffits and discovered the kitchen window was originally twice the size!  Kitchen was lighter and airier, and had twice the cupboard space. Before and Afters Some BTS photos…
