Graphic Art/ Disney TV
Super lucky to work on the Disney show, Villains of Valley View. Surprisingly, one of my favorite parts of the job, is also being responsible for all the copy, and doing product research in order to come up with fake products and packaging.
Production Designer: Lissette Schettini.

Had a blast coming up with this board and renaming all the squares. Halloween is either about slasher films or cutesy little kid stuff, so wanted to come up with something that was neither, and referenced something more classic.

This is part 1 of 3 portfolio images. This shows all the source material. I was given the actors' photo, then I picked the background photos from iStock and combined everything in Photoshop.

Creating books and magazine covers were probably my favorite thing on the job, having fun with the copy. Had to say a lot without really specifically saying anything? Stock images from iStock.

Costumer could not find a kazoo t-shirt! I couldn't even find kazoo art. Took a photo of a kazoo and ran it through Photoshop, then created this for the fictitious school kazoo club.

I scanned images of Legos and created a Lego wallpaper. I then created a color overlay matching real Legos, all printed life size.

It is Disney, but I wanted it to look a little edgy. Couldn't be too edgy, though! I was happy this got approved. Lips were found on iStock, then put through multiple processes in Photoshop, then compiled in Adobe Illustrator.

I had so much fun with this! They gave me no leads, but I instantly thought of mid-century sci-fi books as an inspiration. I found part of the image, (a piece of the sun behind the hill), and then drew out the rest of it and aged it. I also enjoyed coming up with the copy, and playing with his photo to make it look like a true "author portrait."

Found images in iStock, but put together in Adobe Illustrator. Was supposed to be edgy and scary looking, but still appropriate for a Disney kids show.

Another generic magazine - supposed to be "young" but not really about anything, but has to seem like it's about something? Leaving gender/ age/ and general theme vague.

Found some of these elements on iStock, but was not the full ingredients of salsa. So, I drew in more ingredients to fill in with the found iStock image.

For the sake of space, I did not lay out full packaging. The idea was that it was supposed to be something similar (but not copied) from Beats.

I loved doing this box! I discovered Milk Bone dog biscuits (which this would cover) was founded in 1908! Also, that the serving suggestion is 6 cookies a day! But I studied and researched several brands to get the right look.

So, had a black and white photo of one actor, and an old blurry photo of the other actor. Found a background image on iStock. The only automatic enhancements from Photoshop I used was the colorization feature.

When researching, I usually am inspired by the health food companies. I write all the copy and like using "natural" paper backgrounds.

Some variations to choose from for the logo. Then I was told they wanted the shoes to be genderless. Which really, is great.

So, I 100% wrote the copy and researched everything to write. It was a full two sided pamphlet. I hope some extras (actors) learned something.

I was given some names I had to incorporate, but otherwise, came up with all the copy besides the graphics.
