Graphic Art: Child Development Institute (CDI)

The Child Development Institute (CDI) is a center that provides support for families in San Fernando Valley.  Providing access to both emotional and physical therapies for families that might not otherwise get the help they need.

At the time I was hired, their logo was already established, and they also had some artwork created for them to be incorporated in with the signage.  My work was to create more signage and art, blending in with what was already there.

I learned that there is a special color palette for special needs/ autistic children, so any work I did had to work within that color palette.

Oh yes, and the multilingual Welcome sign.  No, Google translate or AI is not reliable.  I am lucky to have a lot of multi-lingual friends that helped me out, and I posted in a language group in Reddit, to make sure I got all the nuances and local expressions right.  That was also really interesting. (And one last note: not all fonts can accommodate all languages and special characters, so that got tricky, with so many languages, since I needed one cohesive font).

Grateful that every they have an event or remodel in anyway, I get called to do more work for them.  They are a very special organization.
